Welcome 2025 And The Redesigned Chevrolet Equinox

January 2nd, 2025 by

The Equinox had not been redesigned since 2018, but the wait is finally over.  Chevrolet’s bestselling SUV is all new for 2025!  So, what can customers expect from the Equinox makeover?  There are many great changes and new features to get excited about, and the first is that the Equinox now comes in three different grade levels rather than four-LT, RS, and Activ.  The RS boasts a sportier vibe than the LT, while the Activ is geared for off-road capabilities coming outfitted with 17-inch, all-terrain tires.

Let’s start with the new exterior features you’ll be sure to notice.  Overall the body has a more rugged appearance.  The new body is stocky with an elongated front grill giving it a sturdier look.  Different grill appearances are used to distinguish between the different trim levels with the LT offering a chrome grill, the RS a gloss black, and the Activ a dark chrome finish. In addition, the wheel arches were squared off, the fender flares made more pronounced, and the taillights were angled, adding to the more rugged vibe.

Not much changed in the new design in terms of size.  Exterior dimensions remained generally the same except for a 2.5-inch increase in width, and cargo room remained essentially unchanged at 29.8 cubic feet with the seats upright, and up to 63.5 cubic feet including the seat area.

Inside the cabin the new Equinox offers a much more modern and sleek appearance.  The first thing that stands out is the dual-screen set up that consists of an 11-inch driver display alongside an 11.3-inch infotainment touch screen, which comes standard with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  Additionally, the gear shifter was relocated from the center console to the right side of the steering column resulting in much more storage space, a streamline look, and a wireless charging dock.  Buttons on the center panel are still used for climate control settings and heated seats.  Interior materials have also been elevated offering finer finishes and textured pieces to accent the dash, vents, and door panels.  Upholstery was upgraded to Evotex (a leather-like material) in the RS and Activ models, with contrasting stitching giving an upscale, contemporary look.

The 2025 Equinox is powered by a 175-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine, and front-wheel drive is standard on all three trim levels. Upgrading to all-wheel drive is a $2,000 option, which also ups the torque output from the base 184 pound-feet up to 203.  Luxury features that come standard on all three trims include a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, and lane assist with lane departure warning.

Chevrolet has kept the entry-level pricing for their redesigned Equinox wallet-friendly, with the entry-level LT FWD model starting at $29,995.  As stated by Car and Driver’s Mike Sutton, the newly designed Equinox is “attractively styled inside and out” has an “intuitive digital interface” and is “smartly priced to start.”
